This model is a Mercedes-Benz Arocs 6x4 with a five axle trailer.
This model is in the colours of Sennebogen.
Packaging
The model comes in a Sennebogen branded box which holds the
model within cardboard-backed foam.
The review model had no
defects or missing pieces.
Assembly is limited to attaching door mirrors and
a roof aerial to the cab, and attaching the trailer to the
tractor.
Detail
The tractor unit is a 6x4 Mercedes-Benz Arocs. Underneath, the
transmission and suspension components are detailed in plastic,
with the steering functionally modelled. The tyres are mounted on good looking wheels.
The cab has a beacon light bar on the roof, and the
Arocs grille looks convincing. There are no number
plates. The Sennebogen graphics are
sharp.
Behind the cab the wheel arches on the rear wheels are
plastic, but there are no coiled lines. The rear lights have plastic lenses.
The semi trailer is a five axle unit and there is
very little plastic used on this model.
The treaded tyres are mounted on small plastic wheels
which look reasonable. The deck has a nice textured
surface, and the headboard at the front has a couple of
spare wheels fitted, together with a set of wheel
chocks.
The edge of the trailer has a yellow hazard line painted
down each side. Two ramps at the rear are cast
well to detail their structure.
A set of deck posts can be fitted to each side of the
deck edge although these are not a tight fit so patience
is required to get them straight and looking right.
Features
The tractor steering works very well, and a very hard
lock can be obtained if desired.
The cab does not tilt.
The axles on the trailer all steer together in an
impressive way which is also proportional in that the
rear axles steer more than the front ones, and this
works very well with the rear axle achieving the 45°
steering angle of the real machine. The axles also have
a form of suspension.
A surprise is that the semi trailer is not extendible
even though the Doll trailer model it is derived from
was extendible. It is understood that Sennebogen
decided not to have that functionality.
Additionally the gooseneck can be separated from the
trailer by removing a plastic pin on the underside.
The trailer has plastic support legs front and rear
which can support it. The ramps at the rear fold down,
and also have some sideways adjustment.
Another interesting feature is that there are small
plastic pull out horizontal extenders down each side of
the trailer bed which can provide some additional
support to wide loads.
Quality
This is a
reasonable quality model which is robust.
The paintwork and graphics are very good.
Price
The model is moderate value for the quality and features offered.
Overall
This is a nicely presented model for Sennebogen.
The trailer is an old casting so the detailing is not up
to modern standards, but overall it is a typically solid
Conrad model.
Footnotes
The model was introduced in 2023.
