This review is of a model of a Mack Superliner 6x4 from the
year 1987.
It is in the colours of
Tackaberry's Heavy Hauling.
Packaging
It comes in an outer shipping carton which encloses a
Mack branded box. The model is held within a pair of factory sealed expanded polystyrene trays.
There were no missing parts or defects on the review model.
Included is a plastic
pointer, and a bag containing spare mirrors is a
thoughtful touch.
There is no information about the real truck or model.
Detail
The chassis is very detailed with
the engine and gearbox visible, and hoses run to the
rear axles. The tyres have a good tread pattern, and
the wheels are very detailed with flexible rubber mud
flaps.
At the front the radiator has a chrome bulldog mascot on top, and the radiator has
an excellent see-through mesh grille. There is a
realistic license plate. The
engine under the hood is made up of a number of
different parts.
The artwork is excellent with graphics and lines
replicating the hand painted artwork of the real truck.
The cab has very thin windscreen wipers and chrome
mirrors with metal aerials. Air horns on the roof have
tiny Mack graphics applied. The interior is also
very detailed. Behind the cab is a rack with more
tiny graphics and realistic looking chains.
The air intakes and exhaust stacks are really good, and
the fuel tanks also look great.
There are lines for connection to a trailer and
excellent non-slip walking surfaces. At the rear there
are light bars and soft mud flaps.
Features
The front wheels steer, with the steering
being 'notched' rather than
variable. The range of movement is moderate.
There is working sprung suspension on all axles.
The engine hood opens to reveal the detailed engine.
The cab doors can be opened to a moderate angle, and inside the seats have an air ride
action and can be moved up and down.
The fifth wheel has a spring loaded lever to secure a
trailer in position. It can also be adjusted
longitudinally.
Quality
This is high quality model, with a high
metal content.
The paint work and graphics are first class and capture
the hand painted graphics on the real truck really well.
Price
It is
a premium priced model which is good value
for the high quality.
Overall
This is another excellent Heavy Haul Replicas model, with the quality of the
artwork particularly once again standing out.
Footnotes
This model appeared in January 2024 in a run of
300 models.
